About Me

I am an artist and potter, graduated from Plymouth College of Art and Design in 2013 where I became very interested in ceramics, taking a short course to learn the basics and then over the last few years developing my own style.

I hand throw all my pots and like to decorate them with my own drawings.  At first, I found transferring my pen and ink line drawings to pots using a ceramic decal was effective but I later turned to hand-painting, preferring to draw directly onto the pot to allow each design expression to develop more naturally and individually.

I throw all my ceramics myself using stoneware clay.  Pots are bisque fired in an electric kiln and then individually hand-painted before their final glaze firing in the kiln, a process with many variables which makes each one a slightly different piece.  Everything I make is designed for daily use and each one is colourful, functional and unique.  I also use the slip-ware process to make multiple items in the same mould (Christmas baubles, for instance) and individually decorate them by hand using underglaze techniques.  I make a wide range of table and homeware, including large salad/fruit bowls, serving dishes, pasta and cereal bowls, jugs, mugs, vases and ceramic jewellery.

I like the natural view. I am always thinking up new designs and techniques for my pots.  I am enjoying creating and experimenting with the thing out of clay; throwing on the wheel and moulding, hand-painted alike.

I work from my studio at home near Launceston and at the pottery at Kigbeare Studios and Gallery which is on the edge of Dartmoor near Okehampton and is where I maintain an exhibition of pieces.

My stall is often set up at the various arts and craft fairs and markets around Cornwall and Devon.  I am working to get stocked in my online shops and the Kigbeare gallery.

I am Deaf and communicates by British Sign Language (BSL).
